-“I can’t even sniff myself”, Catkin

-After a painfully long deliberation we decide to cross the bridge
-We make it 3/4 of the way across before we hear what might be snoring… might be growling
-We decide to proceed with caution, all sneakily
-…
-Rory is the only stealthy person in the party
-Catkin trips
-Sai trips on Catkin
-…Gowyn trips on the Catkin and Sai pileup
-The ice cracks. Loudly.
-…The monster wakes up
-We see antlers and a skull rise above the 10

-…Zalac arrives in time to watch this travesty

-Combat begins
-Rory moves first???
-Rory pulls the 20 metre rope out of their bag and gives one end to Naomi
-And then runs 20 metres away
-…hoping to trip up this 10 metre tall behemoth of a monster

-Naomi is… confused
-The rope is caught on a wall slightly, so they manoeuvre to free it properly
-Naomi and Rory are now standing 15 metres apart in a field, holding a rope

-The monster lets out a horrifying roar, and stuns Rory
-It sprints at the aforementioned stunned Rory and Slashes
-It misses
-It kicks out in frustration
-Rory takes it on the chin but gets knocked back 5 metres
-They keep hold of the rope, and there is still 5 metres of slack

-Sai uses magical assessment and determines that this is a cold magic creature, and as such immune to cold magic

-Gowyn is dissapointed to learn this, only to remember that they have Fire now
-Gowyn hides behind a wall and hits the monster with A Big Freaking Fire Blast (with a poem)

-Catkin runs to Rory and Holds their action…

-Sheep hides behind the wall next to Gowyn

-The monster is pissed
-The tarwayar summons an icy armour
-It moves towards where… everyone except Catkin and Rory are

-Ginger headbuts the beast

-Zalac casts sudden speed and freaking bolts for the gate

-Ciaran tries to cast a gloom beam.
-It blows up in their face

-Rory and Catkin cast a spell together with a poem
-Catkin creates balls of air
-Rory fills them with light
-Catkin yeets them into the creature’s eyes
-Rory then moves to pull the rope taut

-Naomi drops the rope and freaking nails the tarwayar with an arrow
-They pick the rope back up

-The Tarwayar does not trip. It goes right at Gowyn
-It grabs Gowyn
-It swallows Gowyn whole and starts draining their energy

-Sai casts spontanious combustion, hurting the monster but failing to catch it alight

-Gowyn tries to use fire magic to burn the beast from within…
-The spell doesn’t work all to well, more energy is drained, but some of the ice armour melts
-Gowyn remembers that monsters can consume more than just it’s preferred flavour of magic

-Sheep tries to headbut the monster, having seen what it did to Gowyn
-She tries her best but it doesn’t work. Gowyn is crying out for her to run

-The monster picks up Sheep
-While they scream, Gowyn sees Sheep the goat transform into a child
-Said child, the small goblin-like goat nymph wearing an identical outfit to Gowyn, gets swallowed much like Gowyn did.

-Ginger hurls themself in a bodyslam

-Calaz leaps from their talisman, and Zalac reaches the gate
-The find an inscription in the language of Golems, a Cobalus type script, and what seems to be a phonetic transcription into English
-Zalac reads it, it glows, and it Seems to be light magic that they can’t use
-They call Rory to come help,
-…but Rory is aware that Gowyn and Sheep are in mortal peril

-Calaz uses thunder fang!
-It’s super effective!
-It bites with a lightning enhanced attack

-Ciaran uses a lightning spell, and hits it. The monster is stunned

-Rory drops the rope, runs at it and Hits with the axe
-It hurts like fuck

-Naomi nails it with an arrow.
-It also hurts, but not like fuck

-The monster drains energy from Gowyn and Sheep
-It lets out another horrific roar, stunning Calaz, Rory, and Sheep
-It emits an blast of Cold Air, hurting those around it and making fire and lightning spells more energy intensive to cast

-Sai makes it spontaniously combust again and Wow that hurts

-Gowyn smashes a potion of blindness against the monster’s innards

-Catkin tries to attack but is unsucessful

-Sheep tries to kick the monster, but stumbles and hits Gowyn. Gowyn is quick to reassure her that they’re fine

-The monster tries to crush Calaz. By now it has pulled just about every last drop of energy from Gowyn

-Ginger once more takes flight like a raccoon-based missile
-Or maybe a dart

-Zalac tries to shoot the monster from the gate, but misses

-Ciaran stabs it. Every little helps

-Rory freaking shatters the beast with a great blow to it’s let

-Sheep and Gowyn fall as the monster disappears
-The skull falls, landing over Gowyn and Sheep

-Rory gets the Gelu stone from the monster and offers it to Gowyn
-Sheep snatches the shiny rock and seems like they want to eat it
-Gowyn trades them a ration for it, and Sheep happily munches it
-Gowyn gets pulled out of the skull and flops into the snow
-Rory gives Gowyn a drink of energy potion
-Sheep wants uppies
-Rory lifts them out
-Sheep bites their arm and nudges Gowyn to get up

-We approach the gates
-Gowyn can indeed confirm that the Cobalus script is like the English transcription
-Also that this was written in the same way as the spells back in Ashmorth

-Rory, holding hands with Catkin, says the magic words

-Rory and Naomi, in their reflection, look like Golems

-The door outlines everyone that looks like Golems in white
-And everyone else in black
-The doors start opening, then stops

-The goop did this!

-The non-goop drinkers back away

-The doors slowly start opening

-Gowyn munches on some food and water
-Sheep munches on her ration

-Sai asks Gowyn about the 15 gold they owe them
-Gowyn has 4. Sheep offers an additional gold piece

-The gates are fully open, and the non-goopers emerge from behind the rock that’s concealing them

-The gates start to close
-Everyone runs
-Except Gowyn, who can just about muster a jog, and Sheep who’s holding Gowyn’s hand

-We make it inside and realise the sky is getting dark
-We consider camping by the gates to rest
-We do NOT suggest ambushing the expedition group
