Gowyn knows- Kalmia was the first place approached to have a portal, thought it was sus so put it in Acacia Town instead of the capital with the royal family in it

River is really long but safer, would take 20 days ish
Journey over rainforest by air would take 2 days but riskier, would have to wait for beginning of month for portal to open

Yorandi leads us through the city, takes us to meet this friend- tall for a humanoid, small for a nymphanoid, in a hooded poncho, has wings and horns, but everyone sees someone a little different

Yorandi and Taylo leave, saying we should get supplies from the market

Gowyn successfully scams a ball cup game scammer for a whole bag of coins with Rory’s money and then the goat

Dogs are usually strays from upper earth, wolves not domesticated here because of animas, so usually non-magical as from upper earth
Catkin runs away from dogs, Rory goes with, they go to buy earrings for catkin
Gowyn and Aspen go to help with the golden retriever puppies, they want to play

Taylo was the suspicious guy watching us, he goes over to Aspen holding a now caught puppy

Suggests maybe not giving the dog back to the catcher, maybe to keep it or give to Taylo, dog catchers not always the best

Gowyn trips over a dog and falls into a bin

Sheep the Goat now hates Gowyn and bites him, also headbutts Rory but he’s resistant to goat damage

We meet a potion seller who’s been robbed, trail of ice magic plants/crystals, Rory runs off after it, the others follow
We chase through the alleys and run into Taylo
Taylo ID checks Rory, asks a security question, it’s all legitimate
Taylo ID checks Gowyn, Gowyn’s ID is dodgy so he’s trying to get out of it
Taylo threatens arrest if he doesn’t hand over the ID (deserved)

Taylo finds the sphinx that ran the cup ball game in a heap, potentially Gowyn has been replaced by a shapeshifter??
Taylo finds out Gowyn is Cold/Dark
Taylo chases after Gowyn with Catkin, Rory falls over immediately, Rory and Aspen catches up with Catkin’s trail of ice magic

Taylo is going to kill Gowyn, Gowyn runs away again

‘Gowyn’ shapeshifts again and runs off, Taylo shows us his face and reintroduces himself as Kai, tells us to find Gowyn and that he’ll sort out the shapeshifter
We go to an inn, Kai pays for our stay and comes to talk to us, gives Gowyn a cold magus stone
Kai explains he knew Gowyn’s animal/dark was sus because his name is a Cold element name
