Numishoni Notes

-We set up camp in an abandoned building
-Rory elects to stay up and keep watch while Sai, Catkin, Gowyn, and Sheep sleep
-Nothing seems to happen overnight
-Rory tries to finish the crochet gloves we found with the energy potions, only for Miguel II to completely unravel them

-It is a new day. Padshiy is warm, for padshiy. Still cold as heck though
-It’s early in the morning
-We see smoke from a campfire from what must have been the expedition party
-…It’s 8am, Catkin is honk shoo mimimi
-Rory is unable to shake Catkin awake
-Gowyn sets Sheep on them. Sheep headbutts Catkin awake

-Sai remembers that the sword is hidden in a house underneath some floorboards
-…the houses around here are all too wrecked. The boards are all rotted around here
-The expedition party started where we are in the east of Greyhook
-They have moved westward
-…we need to sneak past the expedition party
-bugger

-The smoke seems to have lessened somewhat
-We head towards it… if the fire is dying then maybe the party has left it?
-Aswe move west towards the temple, the houses seem to be in better and better shape

-Cloud sees an irl sheep scratching their butt on a fence via a camera

-We seem to be moving down what was a main road from gate to temple
-As we approach the campfire, we find houses with wood - albeit rotted wood - and many footprints
-The footprints all seem to be from boots of the same make, so it’s hard to tell exactly how many people are here?
-There is a set of vulpine looking footprints, a large shoe size, and At Least 2 others as there are similarly sized footprints of different depths
-Devine is a nerd. A massive nerd.

-We seem to have found the expedition’s basecamp
-The nearby houses are Very Much checked, the footprints are numerous, and there are possessions strewn around the campfire

-We examine the scene
-There are 3 sleeping bags and a big pile of blankets
-There’s food, a small sharp axe, there’s journals and scrolls
-maybe maps?
-There’s also more crochet
-The gloves where white, this crochet is red… red and white… fire and cold… Catkin concludes this is proof of Talia being here
-There’s a map of the Padshiy river… the expedition party followed a similar route to us
-There’s a map of the city, annotated with sections of it being highlighted… in blue, red, yellow, and green
-the sections by the temple are not highlighted… maybe they aren’t there yet?
-We decide to move to a section near the temple
-To get there, we choose to move through the red highlighted area in the hopes that that’s where Flame is…
-Catkin makes a rough copy of the map
-Rory also tries to do so with magic, and detonates a piece of paper and narrowly avoids blinding themself

-As we move through the city, we see a great many houses with charcoal marks on the doors

-We find an unmarked house

-We hear Flame humming and snow being shovelled
-Gowyn recognises she’s humming the 10 minute version of All Too Well
-Catkin gets incredibly excited when they realise this fact

-We try to reroute down closer to the yellow section to evade Talia

-We have no idea if we were noticed

-Gowyn, Catkin, and Sheep all seem to be fans of Taylor Swift

-We go to the temple to check for the sword
-…ah, the temple stairs
-The really rather visible stairs
-We hurry up and… hopefully we weren’t spotted?

-There’s a statue up here, holding a stone hihiirokane sword
-Rory is convinced the statue is pointing at the house where the actual sword is hidden

-The temple, while very pretty, doesn’t seems to have anything of particular interest

-Rory leaves a ration at the feet of the statue, as an offering to Arcadia

-We descend the stairs
-Catkin and Gowyn descend the stairs a lot more quickly than everyone else
-(They fall down the stairs)
-Gowyn, well practised at keeping the pain inside, doesn’t shout out
-Catkin makes a bit of a squeak, having been singing Taylor Swift at the time
-The Swifties are extracted from a Catkin shaped hole in the snow and we start searching houses
-We are pretty sure the sword isn’t in this section
-Catkin had an ouch foot from the fall and needs attention from Dr Rory

-We try another section. Nada. Sai and Ciaran are unable to pry up a floorboard.

-We check out one last section as the light fades

-Gowyn and Sheep find a house that is… different
-Sheep opens the door for Gowyn
-There is no snow inside. There is a floor. Some of the floorboards have collapsed
-It feels different.
-They call the others in.
-The group peers into the hole, but can’t see properly
-Rory tries to light a magic torch. It immediately flickers out.
-Sai creates a flame, and illuminates the hole.
-There is a gleaming red blade inside

-The Hihiirokane sword

-We decide to make a sheathe for it out of a plush toy Sai has

-Catkin tries to fling it out the hole with magic. The sword eats the magic
-Rory climbs in the hole, and puts it on the floor of the room
-Rory skins the stuffed tiger toy in an incredibly violent manner
-Sai is emotionally devastated watching their emotional support stuffed toy being eviscerated

-Catkin wraps the sword in the fabric as a makeshift sheathe

-We decide that Rory will be the sword bearer

-We see the smoke from the expedition party’s campfire
-We decide to camp in this house for the night and leave in the morning
-Gowyn keeps watch
-We… mostly wake up at 7
-Catkin, predictably, does not
-Sai, after failing to shake Catkin awake, sprays Catkin with water

-Now the hard part… how are we going to get out of here

-We go through the section that, had today been yesterday, would have been red
-Devine decides not to roll to see if Gowyn realises that the colour may be different today

-We find the Catkin shaped hole in the ground
-There doesn’t seem to be any sign of it having been discovered

-After passing through the red section, we have to navigate our way through the city away from the campfire
-A bit of Rory’s soul gets eaten by the sword (They permanently lose 1 max energy)

-…

-Gowyn manages to navigate directly to the campfire

-There is a roaring fire and the sound of laughter but… no-one is there
-bugger
-Rory and Ciaran try to sense if some kind of… light or dark tomfoolery is afoot
-The only illusion is the illusory sound of laughter

-Rory sees footprints in the snow. Rapidly approaching footprints.
-They see a bright blue flash, but resist the spell… whatever it was meant to do
-Rory then gets stabbed. Ow.
